Brock Bowers' Impressive Rookie Start

September 18, 2024

Brock Bowers

Brock Bowers, the 13th overall draft pick from Georgia has been nothing short of spectacular in his performance so far. He has proved instrumental in leading the Raiders to a 26-23 comeback victory against Baltimore Ravens. With some crucial fourth-quarter plays, Bowers finished the game with nine catches and a total of 98 yards.

With 16 catches for 156 yards in just two games, Bowers has set a new record for rookie tight ends. His odds to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award now stands at 30-1, according FanDuel. This places him joint seventh for the lowest (and therefore best) odds.

Bowers is leading the pack among offensive rookies in the first two games, he has been consistently impressive. The journey is long, but Bowers has demonstrated his readiness to make an impact. The Raiders are likely to continue relying on his stellar performance.

From 2014 to 2023, there were eight tight ends selected in the first round. Of that group, Kyle Pitts, picked fourth in 2021, had the best rookie season with 68 catches. But Bowers is well on his way to surpassing that record, and may make some NFL history along the way.

With a rookie season like this, it's clear that Brock Bowers is a player to watch, and could be the one to finally break the tight end jinx in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
